Ansoft LLC> (Pittsburgh) is now offering Serenade SV (student version) for high-frequency circuit and communication system design. Serenade SV provides engineering students and professionals with an introductory design environment based on Ansoft's high performance EDA software.

Serenade SV contains high-frequency circuit simulation and communication system simulation. Both simulators operate within the common Serenade desktop. Its high-frequency circuit simulation contains linear S-parameter analysis, tuning, and optimization; and nonlinear harmonic-balance, tuning, and stability analysis. Forced circuits as well as oscillators can be analyzed. A large number of circuit models for lumped, ideal distributed, microstrip, stripline, and coax components are included. Additionally, a set of vendor S-parameter and nonlinear diode and transistor models are included in the device library.

Serenade SV's communication system simulation uses discrete-time analysis for simulation of signal processing models such as modulators, coders, filters, propagation channels, etc. to form analog and digital transmitters, receivers, and end-to-end systems. Analyses include waveform, modulation, sweep, bit-error rate, and statistical properties.

To promote the development of engineering skills throughout the high-frequency design community, Ansoft will provide free copies of Serenade SV. The software will be introduced and distributed at this year's IEEE MTT-S, International Microwave Symposium/Exhibition in Boston, June 13th through 15th. Following the show, the software will be available for download from the Ansoft website.
